What is SimMon

Bring the patient to life — one tap at a time.

As your learners attach monitoring equipment, you bring the patient to life one tap at a time. Type in a new heart rate, a dropping SAT, a rising pressure — whatever the scenario calls for. Scrub values up or down, or enter them directly. The monitor updates instantly. Run scenarios on site, in the classroom, or in the back of a truck — not just in a simulation centre.

Goes Anywhere

Run scenarios on site, in a classroom, bedside, or on the road. SimMon connects over Bluetooth or peer-to-peer Wi-Fi — no infrastructure Wi-Fi, no simulation centre required.

Open. Connect. Simulate.

No complicated setup. Open SimMon on two devices, tap Use as Remote Control, and you're running. Your decisions as instructor are exactly what students see — instantly.

Presets & Scripts

Save your scenario vitals as presets so you're not dialling in values every time. Organize them into scripts and run through a scenario step by step — right from the remote.

One-Time Payment

No subscriptions. No ads. No affiliate marketers. SimMon is a paid app — buy it once, use it on all your devices. Simple pricing for a simple tool.

From download to your first scenario in four steps.

01

Explore

SimMon is built for in situ medical simulation — improving patient care and team efficiency using devices you already own. Dr. Jon Gatward's "Guerilla Sim. Anytime. Anywhere. Anyone." talk explains the concept perfectly.

02

Install

Download SimMon from Apple's App Store or Google Play Store — install on all your devices at no extra cost. Contact support for a promo code to try out SimMon before buying a license.

03

Connect

Turn on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Open SimMon on both devices. On the remote, tap Use as Remote Control — your monitor device appears. Tap it. The monitor opens on its own; you don't need to touch it.

04

Simulate

The monitor starts with readings off. As learners attach equipment, activate each parameter one tap at a time — heart rate, SATs, pressure, ECG. Your choices appear on the monitor instantly.

This is an amazing piece of software, it allowed me to do simulation for my residents without the high-fidelity mannequins. I loved the ease of using my iPhone as a Bluetooth remote!

I teach medical simulation every week. SimMon is perfect — it adds realism to training without all the high-fidelity expensive kit. We use it on Resuscitation Council (UK) courses and ALERT courses regularly.

Installing SimMon
How do I get SimMon on my other devices?

Download SimMon to both devices using the same App Store or Play Store account. This enables you to download SimMon to all your devices at no additional cost.

What devices are supported?

All devices running the latest iOS. And most newer Android devices.

My iOS device can't run the latest iOS — can I still use it?

Existing users can still use older iOS devices, but you can only pair them with other older devices running the same version.

Can I remote control SimMon on Android from an iOS phone?

No. SimMon works with other SimMon apps on the same platform — iOS controls iOS, Android controls Android.

Can I connect SimMon to my hospital network?

No. In any clinical setting you should operate SimMon exclusively using peer-to-peer networking. SimMon is a simulation tool — not a clinical device — and should never be deployed on a hospital or clinical network.

Buying SimMon
Can I try SimMon before buying?

Yes! Promo codes for the iTunes App Store are available by sending an email to our support. We'll send a promo code while supplies last.

Do you offer education discounts?

Yes. Use Apple Business Manager to receive a reduced price on volume purchases for qualifying institutions. All vetting of educational institutions is done by Apple.

Do you offer volume discounts?

Yes. Using Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager, you get a discount on volume purchases of 20+ licenses. Apple manages all volume discounts.

Can I issue redeem codes to my staff?

Yes. If you use Apple Business Manager your staff can use the redeem codes you purchase without using their own credit card.

Using SimMon
How do I connect the remote to the monitor?

Turn on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth on both devices — that's all SimMon needs to find them. Open SimMon on both, tap Use as Remote Control on the remote, and select your monitor from the list. The monitor opens automatically on its own. Wi-Fi connects in a couple of seconds; Bluetooth takes a little longer.

How can I use Peer-to-Peer WiFi on iOS?

In an enterprise setting where devices can see each other but can't connect, go into Wi-Fi settings and use Forget This Network to disconnect from any connected Wi-Fi. This lets the devices connect directly using peer-to-peer Wi-Fi, working around any restrictions on the infrastructure network.

Why are all tachycardias rendering as NSR?

All tachycardias render as Normal Sinus Rhythm below 100 bpm. Raise the heart rate above 100 bpm to see the tachycardia waveform.

Why can't I see other Android devices to control?

Make sure SimMon has permission for precise location services — this allows devices to find each other for nearby networking. Also check that location services are not disabled at the device level, which overrides app-level permissions.

How do I create my own presets?

Enable Presets in Settings under Optional Features. Inside the monitor, open the preset sidebar and drag from the trace area to save current vitals as a preset. Drag one preset on top of another to nest it as a script step — so you can run a scenario in sequence. Swipe left on a preset to delete, export, or rename. To import a preset, swipe left on My Presets and tap Import. This video explains how to use the presets.

SimMon goes where you go.
